She officially has the pudge! We never knew we would be so excited to announce such a thing:) Eve is loving just about every food we have tried with her so far (OK, maybe not so much the green beans). She seems to be growing bigger each time she takes a nap. Her sitting skills have also improved enough to allow for some playing and splashing in the tub, to her delight!

Dinosaurs
The T Rex is a big hit at our house lately. We went to check out the real T Rex at the Museum this weekend. It was a great time. We will have to plan a trip to Dinosaur Ridge where they have excavated many bones -- we found out that there used to be many T Rex', Stegosaurus' and others right here in Littleton CO!!

The Vent
Last month we had our sprinkler system 'blown out' by the sprinkler guys, who are by the way, fabulous guys. (If you need sprinkler guys in the Denver area they are Preferred Sprinklers -Sam and Tony). Anyway, to blow out a system, one must do something in my crawl space. So every fall I clear out the closet in front of the little crawl space door and Sam (or Tony) goes in, does some kind of business and comes back out. All the while, you can hear into the crawl space through the air duct in Pierce's bedroom (adjacent to the crawl-space-closet). So Pierce was in his room playing trains during the 'blow out' and heard the voices coming out of his vent. At first, he was very startled by it. Then he made sense of it in his mind - someone must live in the vent! So he got up on his bed and started to shout into the vent, which is positioned on the wall (I know . . . it is an odd place for a vent). Justin happened to be in the crawl space at that moment so he started talking to Pierce from behind the wall. This was all good fun . . .
. . until now.
Now I actually think the Vent has become a little scary. A couple of times I have seen Pierce standing on the bed looking into it and saying "Who's in there!". Whenever he can't find Justin, he goes to the Vent and starts calling for him. Tonight as I was tucking him in bed he said, "What's that?!". I hadn't really heard anything out of the ordinary . . . then he said, "THAT!". All I could hear was the heat coming from the Vent. I explained that it was just some air coming out to make our house feel warm. I am pretty sure he didn't really believe me. I can see it coming, the reoccuring event of trying to explain to a child that no people live in the Vent. I have distinct childhood memories of crocodiles living under my bed; and no one could've convinced me otherwise at the time. For me: crocodiles, for Pierce: Vent people.

The Anti-Photo Shoot
This is the 2 year 10 month 1 week and 4 day anti-photo shoot of Pierce. Actually he has been 'anti' most things these days. I guess that is the 2 year old in him. I am not happy to hear from others that 3 isn't always much better. Though these first two pictures aren't near the nicely arranged backdrop we had prepared, I really do think they capture the toddler-turning-little-boy that is our Pierce. He has so much personality. He is very strong willed and determined (great character traits for an older kid/adult, but pretty difficult to parent in a young child). Oh, I forgot to explain the bandaid. First off, why is it every time I want to have a family photo shoot, this kid has to wear a bandaid on his face?! He actually did have a head injury this morning from bending over into the corner of our glass table :( But it was really more on the top of his head. He swears that bandaids make everything better so we put one on his forehead for part of the day and he refused to take it off for the pictures. But then again, he refused just about everything to do with the pictures. He did get on the 'backdrop' for a minute but this is the kind of crazy behavior it produced -- no handsome smiles this time!
Giraffe Playtime
We have had a rough week. Pierce has had a pretty serious cold, so we have stayed in the house. We are lonely for our friends and eager to get back out into the world! Hopefully he will feel better soon. In the meantime, we are brainstorming new things to do around the house. So here is Evie dressed in her giraffe outfit playing with her wild animal toys:) This is some of her first really good sitting too! Please pray that Eve doesn't get Pierce's cold.
